Barnardo Developments Limited (BDL) is a subsidiary of Barnardo’s, the UK’s largest child care charity. BDL’s role is to ensure that when a property is no longer required for use by the charity, the income received from its disposal is maximised. To achieve this, BDL has successfully developed a number of sites, including award-winning retirement communities in Tunbridge Wells, Taunton, Harrogate and, most recently, Boughton Hall in Chester in conjunction with ERL.
The Red House is ERL’s second retirement village and is being developed in association with BDL. ERL’s first retirement development at Boughton Hall in Chester, a joint venture with BDL, comprises 80 one and two bedroom apartments and is now a fully occupied, thriving village community.
